Hospitalization for Heart Failure

In this example, all hospitalizations for a subject were collected. The sponsor defined the endpoint of interest as "days alive and out of the hospital" (DAOH). Visits to a hospital (e.g., emergency room, outpatient unit) of less than 24 hours duration and visits to any other healthcare facility were not collected. The reason for hospitalization was also collected; the sponsor analyzed the number of days alive and not hospitalized, and restricted hospitalization to cardiovascular reasons. The sponsor categorized all hospitalizations >24 hours using HOCAT; this category was collected on the CRF. An example CRF is not shown here, because several are provided in the CDASHIG.
